Exploring What Comes After High School

High School Preparing for College

The Ask Ms. Robyn (AMR) podcast is the essential guide for parents and mentors supporting teenagers navigating from high school to WHAT comes after high school. Podcast host Robyn S. Hadley – Rhodes Scholar, former University Dean, D-1 athlete, public school administrator and entrepreneur – shares her experiences and interviews experts in education and industry, former students, and parents.

Robyn and her guests offer practical advice on everything from understanding the importance of high school GPA, course selection, pursuing financial aid, understanding NIL and building a strong support team to taking advantage of job shadowing, apprenticeships and summer camps. Each episode helps families explore all viable post high school pathways – whether it’s a four year university, community college, the military or full time employment–better ensuring students are prepared for leaving the nest when the time is right and growing into a successful future.

“My goal is for the AMR podcast to reach parents and students who are seeking information about all types of career exploration and pathways,  NOT JUST the college experience.  As someone who grew up in a small town, was involved in  4-H and many other activities, I was the first in my family to go to college and it was a transformative but  overwhelming experience.  AMR  is a balanced, realistic and optimistic approach to the topic, not just one that focusses on the four- year live-on campus college experience, which is becoming unaffordable for many more families.”   – Robyn S. Hadley

Do you have concerns like these parents?

Our podcast provides proven strategies and resources available to help relieve the fear and anxiety parents and teens often feel.

“My greatest concern is missing a deadline we never knew anything about.”

Mother of a high school senior

This Mom was very nervous about supporting and advising her 12th grader who was navigating deadlines and costs associated with graduation and applying for college and scholarships:  college tours, testing and application deadlines, interviews, graduation swag. I think her exhaustion spoke to the anxiety many parents feel about their child’s last year or two of high school.

“We just got back from freshman orientation and I feel like we are already behind.”

First year parents

Earlier in my career when I was doing 1:1 advising, one of the first things I asked parents and students was: “What’s your greatest fear about high school or senior year or applying for college or jobs?”  We started the process by addressing that question and unraveling where the fear and anxiety were coming from, while understanding what we could and could not control about the process. Then, we created a plan of action. Having a well thought-out plan made the process of preparing for a successful senior year and moving on to the next step a little easier because then students and families could feel they were managing the process instead of the process managing them.  Ask Ms. Robyn (AMR) podcast guests share stories of obstacles and opportunities in navigating high school and beyond.

The college-bound journey is exciting and overwhelming – full of both possibilities and potential obstacles. What is the “right” school? Will my child get in? How will we pay for it? Within View, Within Reach: Navigating the College Bound Journey, is a how-to guide for parents and mentors that educates them about the world of college admissions and how you can best assist your teenager in finding the right college and paying for it.

Each chapter is filled with practical points and bright ideas to help your child get into the right fit college and to help you both find the resources to make it happen.

WVWR was first published in 2010. Now in 2026, with so many questioning the cost and value of a four-year residential college experience, author Robyn S. Hadley continues in this second edition to ask and answer important questions for students, families, colleagues and organizations.
